#PS4 #XboxOne – Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One’s Huge new games announcement : While Microsoft are set to launch the new Xbox Scorpio later this year, the Sony PlayStation 4 currently dominates its console rivals. But while one console may hold a much larger cut of the market, that doesn’t mean its competitors are standing idle.
The Nintendo Switch is posting impressive sales, while Microsoft will soon match Sony in the upgraded-console department with the Xbox Scorpio. All the major console players are also looking for the next big gaming reveal to help sell their machines.
And the most recent announcement may prove very popular. Life is Strange was an indie Smash-hit published by Square Enix which built a dedicated fanbase that gave it an 8.6 ranking on Metacritic.
And now developers Dontnod Entertainment have given a big update on the future of the series, which looks destined to return to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It’s been revealed that the next game in the series is now in development, with Michel Koch, Raoul Barbet, and Luc Baghadoust making the announcement via a new video.
According to the team, three million people purchased the first game, which was available on a large list of platforms. This included PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, OSX and PC – although the development team failed to give any specifics on which platforms the new game would be released on.
The game was released in waves, with its apparent popularity propelling it onto new platforms. The first launches began in August 2014, with the final release for Linux occurring in 2016.
An official developer blog post confirmed that the new Life is Strange title would not be featured at E3 this year, although fans will hoping for more news to be released before the end of the year.
“If you’re reading this, you’ve likely already heard or watched the news… we reached over 3 million unique paying players!” the development post reads.
“It’s an incredible achievement and one we could not have reached without you, our fantastic community! You helped spread positive words about our game and have continually kept the world interested in what happens next.
“We also revealed a key piece of information that many of you have been waiting some time for now – we can indeed confirm that the original Life is Strange team at DONTNOD are working on a brand new Life is Strange game.
“We can’t wait to tell you all about it when the time is right, but for now we are hard at work ensuring it is the very best game we can create.
“We’re really thankful for your patience thus far and ask for a bit more time. The new game will not be at E3 in June this year but we will be watching the show alongside you all and wish everyone good luck!”
It will also likely mean more gaming support for both the Xbox Scorpio and PS4 Pro. Both consoles will go head-to-head later this year as Sony and Microsoft gear up for the 2017 holiday season.
There has even been a recent analyst prediction that suggest Sony could release their next console as early as the second-half of 2018. PlayStation 4 sales continue to impress and while Sony are pleased with their progress, they are also remaining very ambitious about total units sold.
So ambitious in fact that they believe they can sell another 18 million consoles in the upcoming financial year. It doesn’t sound like a company that is looking to a new console launch, however, there might be another reason behind the tech giant’s big predictions.
Some analysts are backing Sony to cut the price of the base PS4, this tactic would likely create enough room for those big sales numbers to become a possibility. It should also be noted that any price cut to the PS4 is likely to be emulated in someway by Microsoft with the Xbox One. Source: express
